The mission of the American Choral Directors Association is to inspire excellence in choral music through education, performance, composition, and advocacy.
Membership
Members are required to attend the meetings and as many events as possible. To become an official ACDA member, click the button below. Registration for students in Illinois is only $5!
Programs and Activities
By hosting masterclasses with experienced teachers and choral musicians, providing opportunities for students to practice directing a choir, and taking students to retreats and conferences, ACDA provides directing experience, professional development, and networking opportunities to both music educators and performers. ACDA at Illinois also hosts socials such as karaoke nights and offers volunteer opportunities such as singing holiday music at retirement homes.
Conferences and Conventions
Members of ACDA at the University of Illinois have the opportunity to attend National and Regional Conferences as well as seasonal Conventions and Retreats. These events host performances by some of the top choirs in the country, offer presentations from cutting edge researchers and directors, and provide opportunities to build a choral repertoire collection. The networking opportunities at ACDA events are boundless, and provide music education students with connections and mentors in the choral community.
